Sangha Spotlight — Todd Boswell

May 5, 2022 by MOI

How long have you been coming to MOI events?

Six months

How did you get interested in meditation practice?

Through my employer’s well-being program

Share a memory or feeling you have about MOI.

It was my 2nd time attending the Tuesday night Dharma talk and afterwards I was invited to join everyone for tea and socializing. I remember feeling very welcomed and a strong sense of belonging.

What does your meditation practice look like?

I meditate at home daily, I attend MOI’s Tuesday evening Dharma talk and their Sunday sit time. I enjoy meditating with others. I also attend several online meditation classes during the week as well.

Share a favorite quote, mantra, intention or saying that is currently guiding you in practice.

May I be happy, May I be healthy, May I be safe, May I live with ease.

May you be happy, May you be healthy, May you be safe, May you live with ease.

What is your definition of sangha?

A group of beings who study the dharma together and spend time with each other discussing their practice.

Name a book on the dharma that you consider a must read.

The life of the Buddha. Bhikkhu Ñanamoli

What are you currently working with in your practice?

Patience and Joy

What has mindfulness and/or mediation helped you with?

It has helped me become a more patient and compassionate person. It has also helped me become more in tune with my mind and body.

Tell us about one success story you have had on your dharma journey.

Since I started my dharma journey, I have wanted to develop a more consistent practice. In January of this year MOI offered a silent retreat and I signed up to attend. I was unsure if I would be able to sit and meditate for such long periods of time. To my surprise I found it was a very good experience and as my teacher would say, “It was time well spent.” Since attending I have been more comfortable with longer sitting and look forward to going on another retreat this spring.

Finally, what are some of your other interests outside of the dharma?

Cooking and posting pictures of the food I make or eat on Instagram @what_he_eats. I like working out in group fitness classes and riding bikes with my partner. I enjoy spending time with my two sons. I also collect art with my partner Mimi from local artists.

Thank you, Todd!  We are so happy you are a part of MOI’s sangha!
