How long have you been coming to MOI events?
6 months
How did you get interested in meditation practice?
I have been living with pain and sorrow since I was a child, I knew I needed to do something to turn that pain and sorrow into peace and happiness and loving myself by learning to take the thorns out one by one and dissecting them in a healthy way.
Share a memory or feeling you have about MOI.
The first time I attended MOI, I was able to share some of my painful traumas that I have been working through for many years. Kyle was the dharma teacher that night and I will never forget his compassionate heart and love he showed me as I spoke about my story. I knew at that moment MOI would forever be my special place.
What does your meditation practice look like?
I started my meditation journey over 8 years ago. I begin each day with a 25 minute nature meditation, followed by a 10 min guided meditation and then a 10 minute worship video. After all of my meditation, I have a devotional daily Bible I read morning and evening. I always follow that with journaling and a gratitude book.
Share a favorite quote, mantra, intention or saying that is currently guiding you in practice.
Today is a beautiful day of opportunity, I am exactly where I need to be, I open myself to the universe and trust in the unfolding of my life.
What is your definition of sangha?
A group of like-minded beings coming together as a community learning the dharma, doing integration work afterwards and sharing our thoughts and insight.
What are you currently working with in your practice?
Peace within and listening to my truth. Being the best version of myself I can be.
What has mindfulness and/or mediation helped you with?
It has given me a strong sense of peace within my soul. Patience, seeing more clearly, knowing myself, and a great gratitude for life.
Finally, what are some of your other interests outside of the dharma?
Yoga is a big part of my life and walking and being with our Mother Earth. I love to be with my kids and grandkids. Traveling. I also love to share my story so others in pain can know you can live a life without sorrow if you just do the work.
Thank you, Kimberly! We are so happy you are a part of MOI’s sangha!
